Pixel Art Studio: How a windows app helped me understand photoshop

I have had a very difficult time understanding the workings of Photoshop. I am not talking about the results, which we see all around us today, but the actual process. How are you supposed to get started? What are those layers about? Why would I want something so complicated? There are a number of tools and elements used while working with images which can cause confusion for a first time […]

Error #7322 for Bluehost…Not so fast

What is Error #7322 for Bluehost? So this morning I was treated to a ominous sounding email that my hosting service was going to be locked down, shut off, and otherwise rendered unusable. Of course this made me slightly nervous that I had done something wrong and was going to bring shame to my family and friends, and then the site was going to collapse upon itself. After this initial […]

A new look for the website

If you have been to the site before, you may have noticed a change. I wanted to redesign the site to offer information in a more elegant way. The way it started is how it often does, with someone else changing their site and getting jealous of that change. Mike and I often talk about our sites (he runs smallglowingpig.com) and make changes to accordingly. For a while now we have […]

Taking photos…like a professional?

So Mike goes to me the other day, “‘you know what looks really professional…” Okay that’s not how it went, but the discussion did focus around making professional video and photos. Mike has an old post about this on smallglowingpig.com, but since there is no search for his site, I will procrastinate and possibly include the link below. Here is the long and short of it: adding focus to your subject […]

Table Top Game Day

So I kind of struggled with the title of this segment. Originally we were going with board game day but then I realized most of the time we’re not really even playing board games. So, card game and board game days? I think Table Top Games makes the most sense. BGD was a better acronym than TTGD or TGD. I wonder if TTD is best, for Table Top Day. [Maybe […]

Finally…an Introduction

After discussing the need for an introduction to the IdiotCast, we finally made one. Borrowing an old idea from the show with friendly neighbors, we crafted an intro worthy of the podcast’s name. It took a few takes to keep from laughing, but we were able to capture the video in about seven minutes. The setup and tear down felt longer than the actual recording. The soundtrack fits great with […]

It’s OBScene how easy it is!

I OBSolutely adore Open Broadcaster Software.  I don’t mean to be OBStinate about it, but I encountered very few OBStacles while learning it and it has the potential to turn into an OBSession.  Even a casual OBServer would realize instantly how OBSolete it makes other screen capturing programs. Achem. In the interest of finding a better way to capture us looking at the internet, Keith and I downloaded OBS and fired up the […]

Nintendo Creators Program (Update)

So, we submitted a video to the Nintendo Creators Program and have waited for a response. The other night I received an email saying that the video was flagged for copyright reasons. After a small scare, I checked and saw the video was approved by the Nintendo Creators Program! So now were have a legitimate video of Mike and I playing and discussing the Legend of Zelda. Pretty good, huh?
